What if I told YOU that most people are not WHO they appear to be? It seems that after most people enter our public school system, they begin to forget WHO THEY ARE.Sadly,the school curriculum and the antics of school tends to make most people CONFORM to the NORM ! At an early age,instead of continuing their path to SELF-DISCOVERY, people are sent to COMPULSORY SCHOOLING and coerced into accepting the School to College to Job path. They even get the parents to go along with it. Also, I feel that it is much harder on Black children. You see, one of the first things they did was to get Black children to accept a different culture from that of their Black ancestors. I have seen hundreds of Black children who could pass a STANDARDIZED TEST with the greatest of ease, but couldn't tell you hardly anything about the TRUE HERITAGE of the BLACK RACE ! Additionally,too many Black children end up with MISTAKEN IDENTITIES.They can Ace School exams, but they have practically NO IDEA of WHO THEY ARE. Furthermore, most people will spend their entire lives living " A CASE OF MISTAKEN IDENTITY! No wonder so many people are dissatisfied with their lives, their jobs, and WHO they have BECOME. I like how Mr. Denis Waitley put it ; he said, " It's not what you are that holds you back,it's what( who ) you think you are not."
Since the problem is so blatantly clear,why do so many people continue on this sordid path of " A CASE OF MISTAKEN IDENTITY?" Personally, I believe it has everything to do with a person's PROGRAMMING.You see, our programming is what produces the results that we call our lives. Therefore,our lives are essentially a series of programs that have been installed through the years. While some of the programming[ programs ] is useful to us,some of it is often detrimental to our success as well as our well being. Therefore, we must take time to inspect the programs running in our minds. One of the best ways that I have found to do this is by WRITING THINGS DOWN( physically on paper ). Writing helps " OUR MIND " to examine and dissect what is actually going on{ above and below the surface
}. Also,by writing things down, we have a record to refer back to when we want to see if there are any evidence of any significant patterns to help us understand WHO WE ARE as well as WHO WE ARE BECOMING.So try this EXERCISE : FOR THE NEXT 10 DAYS, WRITE DOWN ON PAPER YOUR THOUGHTS AND IDEAS ABOUT WHO YOU BELIEVE YOURSELF TO BE. FOR 30 MINUTES EACH DAY, IN A QUIET PLACE, IN A TRANQUIL STATE OF MIND,WRITE DOWN THE THINGS THAT COME TO MIND WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT WHO YOU ARE AND WHO YOU ARE BECOMING.TRY ASKING YOURSELF QUESTIONS SUCH AS WHO AM I, WHO DO PEOPLE SAY THAT I AM, WHO DO I WANT TO BECOME,WHAT DO I FEEL GOOD ABOUT,ETC...[ REMEMBER,TRY THIS OUT FOR 10 CONSECUTIVE DAYS. At the end of the 10 days,you may even find yourself wanting to continue the process ]. I hope this exercise will help those who go through the 10 Day process.
